nVidia 190.38 beta drivers and ArmA2

A quick but worthwhile FYI about nvidia drivers, especially if you’re playing ArmA2. I have been using the 186.18 drivers for awhile now and they’ve been fine, but on a total whim last night I decided to try out the new 190.38 beta drivers just released yesterday.

I wasn’t expecting much, but was happy to find I got an easy 10 to 15 frames per second improvement in ArmA2. I had started a particular single player mission a couple of evenings ago when still using the 186.18’s and was seeing in and around 30fps. Late last night, when I should have been asleep I resumed the same mission using the 190.38 betas and I was seeing 40+.

Your mileage may vary of course, because as we all know PC’s are rather fickle with this sort of thing from one machine to the next, but for me the 190.38’s are absolutely outstanding and worth trying.

Get them over here, and be sure to install them properly lest ye tempt the fates o’ the PC Gods and incur their frowny wrath. Or some such.
