Fig. 8
Filed under Games you must playI will say nothing about Fig. 8 aside from pointing out it’s awesomeness in so far as being able to distract the hell out of you. Figure it out (it’s not hard) and see how you do. Yes, there is an end which for me = 139,224.

Eve Online – I heard I was dead
no responses - Posted 09.27.09
When I set up my character in Eve Online, I decided to create a guy I could relate to and one for which I could create a vague back story. As it turns out, naming him "Dirk Plisskin" (distant relation of the venerable, tight-panted bad ass Snake Plisskin) was a wise move. Like his ancient forefather everyone has heard he ... continue -

So let's pretend that there hasn't been a long ass period of time since my last post. Let's pretend I've posted here every day as I have for months. Let's pretend I haven't embraced the core angle of this site (ie - distraction) and gotten myself SO distracted with various things that I just sort of stopped posting. Let's pretend. Sweet, ... continue -
OFP2 : Competitive Multiplayer Trailer

ok so it's been a few days since I've written anything here, which is usually the tipping-point-of-blog-failure... but let's not go there. To make up for said lack of postyness here's another gameplay trailer showing off some competitive multiplayer aspects of Operation Flashpoint 2. I admit to being impressed with most everything I've seen so far. Here's hoping OFP2 succeeds ... continue -
Eve Online – Ship shopping for n00bs

I intended to write up a little AAR of some recent happenings in Eve Online, but I realize that a post I made this morning on QT3 pretty much sums it up so here's an abridged version that should still make sense. In short, I'm really starting to get into Eve Online. It's starting to make sense and I'm starting to ... continue -
Effing Hail

You know what the world needs effing more of? It needs more effing games where you get to control the effing weather and destroy effing things, and it especially needs more games with "effing" in the title. Happily Effing Hail satisfies on all fronts (weather related pun effing intended) by allowing you to control the weather, and in particular wind and ... continue -
Rise of Flight demo

Interested in paying a monthly fee to fly some of the slowest combat aircraft of all time? No? Me either. That said, there is a demo of Rise of Flight out over here which gives you three days of World War I aviation action, then tells you to stuff it. If you're a good pilot you might even see an ... continue

Grapple Buggy. Not sure what else to say here aside from pointing out the obvious fact that if you mix classic Moon Patrol with a vaguely World-of-Goo-2d-Physics sort of vibe you get potential awesomeness. Coming this Christmas for the Xbox360, and I even like the name... no, I especially like ...continue

I had no interest in Halo ODST at all until I found out that Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyck (all of the most excellent Firefly TV series) are doing voices. Oh, and I saw the mighty fine live action trailer below. I'm in. HD version here. continue
What is the Cave of Distraction?
At the end of a hard day, many men retreat to their cave. Often times that cave contains a computer or gaming console which allows the man to destroy things and recklessly kill people with merciless abandon, as men were born to do. The cave and the games therein provide distraction, from all those things in life the man needs to be distracted from. This site is about the distractions, found within the cave.
