PCGet the right joystick drivers
The title says it all, but I’ll stress the importance of this and say it one more time… get the proper joystick drivers for your particular hardware.
Often times people will get XP or Vista set up, then plug their joystick in and see that the operating system recognizes it and they never think about it again. I did this with my Saitek joystick, and had been flying Microsoft Flight Sim X with XP’s stock game controller drivers for a long time now. Recently however I’d been noticing my flights always involved what I considered a LOT of downtrim for level flight. I also started noticing my aircraft popping up and down in pitch a lot, which at first I attributed to weather but came to think that perhaps my joystick was spiking.
I was just to the point of thinking it might be time for a new stick, when it occured to me to find the proper Saitek drivers for my stick to see if that helped and let me just say, the difference was night and day. My flights went from needing a ton of down trim, with constant spikes up and down to smooth and even as they should have been all along. All this just from getting the right drivers for my joystick.
If you’re using Windows stock set up for your game controller and are noticing any oddness in your flying, especially on calm days when straight and level should be almost hands off, do yourself a favor and take the time to find and install the right drivers for your stick. It might make a world of difference.
